Fire crews rescue two trapped in car after collision in Hamden

HAMDEN, Conn. (WTNH) — Fire crews rescued two people who were trapped in a car after a crash on Route 15 North in Hamden. Fire officials said the car went off the road near Exit 61 and hit a tree head-on.

Crews rescued a male and a female from the vehicle. Both parties were sent to Yale-New Haven Hospital with serious injuries. No lanes were closed as a result of the crash, and traffic is moving normally in the area.

Fire crews were sent to the accident shortly after battling a house fire on Newton Street.
