Firefighter hurt battling Hamden house fire

HAMDEN, Conn. (WTNH) — A firefighter was hurt fighting a house fire in Hamden on Thursday.

According to officials, the fire broke out around 1:30 p.m. at a home at 23 Newton Street.

When firefighters got there, the back of the building was burning. Everyone inside the house was able to make it out safely.

The firefighter was checked out for minor injuries.

Officials say the people living on the first floor will be out of the building for some time.

There has been no word on what caused the blaze.
