PD: Meriden woman embezzled more than a quarter of a million dollars from workplace

NORTH HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — A Meriden woman is facing charges after police say she embezzled more than a quarter of a million dollars from her workplace.

According to police, 48-year-old Sharon Cordero embezzled $255,800 over a five year period while working as the bookkeeper for a North Haven business owner.

Officials say she made deposits into her personal account at the expense of the business, used business funds to pay for her health care plan without authorization and altered business records.

Cordero has been charged with two counts of Larceny in the First Degree and two counts of Larceny in the Second Degree.

She posted a $25,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 2.
