Plainfield Police make drug arrest during traffic stop

PLAINFIELD, Conn. (WTNH)– A man was arrested with crack cocaine and Fentanyl during a traffic stop in Plainfield early Thursday morning.

Police say just after midnight, officers pulled over 30-year-old Stephan Valcin, of Wauregan, at the intersection of Moosup Pond Road and Putnam Road for an equipment violation.

During the stop, officers say they concluded that Valcin was operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs. When asked to perform a field sobriety test, police say Valcin began to reach toward the center console and under the seat. Officers then commanded Valcin to show his hands to which he did not comply so he was removed from the car.

Police say officers noticed a crack pipe and other narcotic related items on Valcin’s lap as he was moving around. When Valcin was searched, police also found him to be in possession of 8.3 grams of crack cocaine and 40 bags of Fentanyl prepackaged for sale.

Valcin was then arrested and charged with two counts of possession of narcotics, possession of narcotics with intent to sell, possession of drug paraphernalia, operating under the influence of alcohol and/ or drugs, operating without a license and failure to have devices lit or illuminated. He was held on a $25,000 bond.

Police say Valcin had already been the subject of two other narcotic related search and seizure warrants earlier this year and in 2013.

Plainfied Police ask anyone who notices any suspicious or narcotic related activity to contact them at 860-564-0804 or on the anonymous tip line at 860-564-7065.
