State Police say at around 7 p.m., troopers pulled over a Pontiac Grand Prix for speeding on I-84 eastbound near exit 69. When speaking with the occupants, police say they noticed criminal activity so they requested to search the vehicle. That’s when they found a large bundle of narcotics in the passenger’s pocket, along with more drugs and liquid methadone inside the car.
In total, police seized 110 individual bags of heroin, 3 grams of crack cocaine and 3 ounces of liquid methadone.
The driver, 27-year-old Asia Scott, of Stafford Springs, was charged with speeding, possession of heroin with intent to sell, possession of narcotics and narcotics not in a proper container.
Her passenger, 27-year-old Dennis Smith, of Enfield, was charged with drug paraphernalia, possession of heroin with intent to sell and possession of narcotics.
Both were held on a $100,000 bond.
