Capitol Report: Leaders compromise on state budget proposal

State lawmakers meet at the Capitol. (WTNH)

HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — Behind closed doors, party leaders put their bipartisan noses to the grindstone and hammered out a compromise on a budget deal.

Governor Dannel Malloy has been shut out of these meetings and he is far from ready for a lovefest on the compromise.

Leaders met with their caucuses on Thursday, and the bombshell that came out of those meetings was a plan to eliminate the “Car Tax” in year two of the budget.
