Motorcyclist suffers serious injuries in Ledyard crash Satuday

LEDYARD, Conn. (WTNH) — A Groton man suffered serious injuries after his motorcycle collided with a pickup truck on Saturday afternoon.

According to police, Derek Palmerone, 52, was turning left from Whalehead Road onto Route 214 when his motorcycle collided with a pickup truck being operated by a 17-year-old from Gales Ferry.

Officials say Palmerone was flown to a local hospital by Life Star.

Portions of Route 214 were closed for approximately three hours following the crash.
