WATERBURY, Conn. (WTNH)– A driver involved in a Interstate 84 westbound crash in Waterbury on Monday morning has died.
According to State Police, 55-year-old Howard Pellagrino of Waterbury suffered fatal injuries after his vehicle collided with another. The operator of the second vehicle was transported to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
The Department of Transportation reports that I-84 westbound was closed between Exits 21 and 19 because of a multi-vehicle accident that happened around 10 a.m.

The accident also led to a 50-60 gallon fuel spill on to the highway.
The highway was closed for several hours with traffic being diverted off exit 19.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
