Connecticut senators to announce Background Check Expansion Act

WASHINGTON D.C. (WTNH)– Members of Connecticut’s congressional delegation are introducing  the “Background Check Expansion Act” to Congress On Wednesday.

That legislation would expand the federal requirements for background checks to firearm sales by private sellers. Under the current law, unlicensed or private sellers are not required to conduct a background check before transferring a firearm.

U.S. Senator Chris Murphy, the author of the bill, will be joined by Senator Richard Blumenthal and gun violence survivors and advocates, to discuss the details of that bill in a news conference in Washington at 2 p.m.
