New London Police investigate convenience store robbery

NEW LONDON, Conn. (WTNH)– Police are investigating a robbery at a New London convenience store that happened early Wednesday morning.

Police say just after midnight, officers responded to the Sam’s Food Store at 485 Ocean Avenue after receiving a 911 call reporting a robbery.

The on duty clerk told officers that while no weapon was shown, the suspect was holding his right hip as to insinuate he had a weapon. He also threatened the store clerk with violence during the robbery.

Police describe the suspect as a tall white male, who was wearing a green hoodie and jeans. He was reported to have stolen about $300 to $400 in cash.

Police also located a witness of the robbery while on scene.

The incident remains under investigation at this time. Police ask anyone with information to contact them at 860-447-5269.
