Groundbreaking for new outlet mall near Rentschler Field

EAST HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — The new outlet shops at Rentschler Field in East Hartford are now under construction. An official groundbreaking ceremony was held on Thursday morning.

The outlet mall is expected to open next November, bringing more than 70 stores and restaurants plus thousands of jobs.

“One of the most important things we talk about is the number of jobs that will come as a result of this,” said Mayor Marcia Leclerc. “1,200 construction jobs and 1,300 permanent jobs. East Hartford residents will have an opportunity for those jobs.”

The mayor says the mall will improve the quality of life in East Hartford. They hope to add 30 more stores shortly after initial construction is done.
