Captiol Report: Local elections held Tuesday

(WTNH) — Tuesday is election day and all politics is local.

More than two million active voters in 165 Connecticut towns will head to the polls.

In the state’s smallest city, Derby, Republican challenger Rich “Zeke” Dziekan hopes the second time is the charm after losing by 112 votes to Mayor Ann Dugatto in 2015.

And in Trumbull, incumbent Republican Mayor Tim Herbst is off the ballot as he’s running for governor, so Trumbull and state Democrats look to flip the hometown of former state Democratic Party chairman Nancy DiNardo from Republican to Democrat.
