(WTNH) — Your questions on business and life: answered on Dr. Patty Ann’s Tuesday Tips for success.
Beverly from Waterbury asks: ” I have an office mate who gossips about everyone & it makes me really uncomfortable. How should I handle this situation?”
Dr. Patty Ann Tublin suggests tackling the situation with humor first. She says it’s best to try and confront the gossiper in a positive way. If the gossiping behavior continues, pull the person aside and tell them you feel uncomfortable. A good rule of thumb when communicating in the workplace is if you do not feel comfortable saying something to someone’s face, do not say anything at all.
Nancy from Shelton asks: “My husband is always complaining that I spend too much money – and its not true – most of the expenses are related to our two kids. How can i get him to stop complaining?”
Dr. Tubin says having a sit down conversation right away is the best way to go about this situation. The worst thing you could do is wait until the credit card bill is due to talk about it. Dr. Tublin emphasizes the importance of having a family budget.
