Mayor Erin Stewart wins reelection in New Britain

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (WTNH) — Republican Erin Stewart, the youngest mayor ever in the history of New Britain at just 30-years-old, won a third term on Tuesday.

Mayor Stewart was able to defeat Democrat Merrill Gay following a busy campaign for both candidates.

The mayor spoke with News 8’s Bob Wilson following the win, who asked her about a possible run for governor. She said she still “has a lot to think about,” but did not rule anything out.
