Greek Food Festival kicks off at New London church

NEW LONDON, Conn. (WTNH) — Thousands are flocking to the Saint Sophia Greek Orthodox Church in New London this week, as Tuesday kicked off the 65th annual Greek Food Festival.

Traditional Greek meals will be served. The festival is the church’s main fundraiser for the year.

“It’s very important both ways, financially and it brings the community together,” said Terry Mitchell, President of the Parish Council. “Everybody shows up for work so it’s very, very important.”

The food festival continues through Friday.
