We are Cruisin’ Connecticut to give you a preview of a special event happening this Sunday, that’ll send you back in time…
“This brings back a lot of memories, oh my gosh,” said Samuel Fairman.
That’s the feeling of many Tower One Tower East residents, who look back on their childhood on the old Oak St. / Legion Ave. section of New Haven.
Now 100 years old, Samuel Faiman would end up serving four years in WWII. But it all started in the Elm City.
“I was born maybe three blocks from here on the old Oak Street,” said Faiman.
“There were horse and buggies, as well as cars, when I grew up,” said Stuart Grodd.
Before Stuart Grodd became a successful contracting entrepreneur, he was just a kid from New Haven.
“There were very few fist fights. As a matter of fact, the few that they were, I was involved in. There weren’t that many,” said Grodd.
But as Sydney Perry will tell you, it’s not just about looking back at the “good old days” of the Legion Ave. / Oak St. community.
“Before and after, it’s how you make what was past into a brilliant future. It’s our job as a legacy to do that,” said Perry.
Tower One Tower East is doing just that with their 50th Anniversary, a neighborhood reunion in New Haven. It’s happening this Sunday from Noon to 2 p.m. Call Tower One Tower East in New Haven to RSVP and tickets for the reunion to reminisce are $25.
