(WTNH)–If you want to stay mentally fit, reduce stress, and have better relationships, try picking up a book. Studies indicate that reading can improve your life in many ways.

For one, reading can help keep your brain sharp and youthful. Studies have shown that reading exercises the brain in a way that viewing images does not.

Studies have also shown that books can help relieve stress and help increase a person’s social awareness.

So next time you have a few minutes to relax, you may want to pick up a book instead of turning on the TV. Your brain might thank you for it.
