Officials identify victim of New London structure fire

NEW LONDON, Conn. (WTNH) — Police are continuing to investigate a structure fire in New London that took the life of one man on Wednesday.

Officials say 64-year-old Stanley Jacovich was pulled from the scene of a fire on Eastern Avenue. Firefighters say he was found on the first floor of the home near the back.

Jacovich was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

According to authorities, the property was vacated.

The cause of the blaze is not yet known.
