Storm Team 8’s Joe Furey Visits Harry S. Fisher Elementary School in Terryville

TERRYVILLE, Conn. (WTNH) — Some enthusiastic fourth grade students from Harry S. Fisher Elementary School in Terryville were treated to a weather lesson from Storm Team 8 Meteorologist Joe Furey on Wednesday.

Extreme weather was a topic that the grade was learning about and the students had many questions about hurricanes and tornadoes. Joe Furey spoke about his mentor Dr. Mel Goldstein and the Storm Team 8 Meteorologist’s creation of the world-renowned severe storm prediction index that was used to predict the tornado in Windsor Locks in 1979.

After answering questions, the fourth graders spent some time learning about the Executive Auto Group Storm Team 8 Mobile Weather Lab outside.
