Power restored after thousands wake up to outage in New Haven

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH)– More than 1,000 people woke up without power in New Haven Thursday morning.

At around 6 a.m., United Illuminating was reporting about 1,087 customers were in the dark due to a power outage in the New Haven area. Even earlier, that number was as high as about 3,100.

The cause of the outage is unknown at this time.

United Illuminating says that crews looked for the problem and quickly worked to restore power.

Power was almost fully restored as of 8 a.m.
