NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — Friday is expected to be bitterly cold in Connecticut, with temperatures dropping even as the sun rose Friday morning.

At 5:00 a.m. morning, News 8’s Kent Pierce was outside on the New Haven Green; no coat, feeling good. Just as predicted, it is noticeably colder, especially any time the wind picks up.

Some people in New Haven are having a hard time believing just how bad it’s going to get. A man who runs a hot dog car on Howard Avenue said he is not looking forward to standing out here when the wind chill makes it feel like its in the teens.

Sean Kellman, of New Haven, works in a rock quarry in Seymour. He is much more optimistic about staying warm Friday. He’s got a plan; to stay bundled up and keep moving with multiple layers on all day.

As you head to work Friday, dress for temperatures in the teens, because that’s what it is going to feel like.

If you have not had a freeze where you live, it will get below freezing Friday night, so bring in the garden hose. Anything with water in it will freeze. Water expands when it freezes, so things can break.
