Capitol Report: New Britain’s Erin Stewart wins third term

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (WTNH) — One of the shining stars for the GOP on election day was New Britain Mayor Erin Stewart.

The 30-year-old Stewart won her third term in office, defeating Democrat Merrill Gay who hammered Stewart during the campaign about New Britain’s finances and not being forthright about her future political plans.

Speaking of future political plans, Lieutenant Governor Nancy Wyman said she would make her decision on a run for governor after a budget deal was signed.

News 8’s LaSalle Blanks asked her point black last week if she was getting in the race.
