Senators support bipartisan bill aimed at stopping election interference

(WTNH) — A bill designed to battle international cyber threats has support from both sides of the aisle.

Republican Senator James Lankford of Oklahoma says a bipartisan group of senators will introduce the legislation early next week.

Its goal is to improve communication between federal intelligence agencies and state elections officials to stop foreign intervention in elections.

Republican Lindsey Graham and Democrats Amy Klobuchar and Kamala Harris are supporting the bill.

It comes in the wake of Russia’s alleged meddling in the 2016 elections.
