DEEP identifies snowmobile driver missing in Griswold

GRISWOLD, Conn. (WTNH)– The Department of Energy and Environmental Protection has identified the snowmobiler who is still missing in Griswold on Monday.

DEEP says on Saturday evening at around 6:45 p.m., Environmental Conservation (EnCon) Police Officers responded to Pachaug Pond for the report of a missing snowmobile driver.

The snowmobiler has been identified as 56-year-old John Dubois, of Griswold.

Connecticut State Police troopers and K9 units, along with nearby fire departments and regional dive teams, all assisted EnCon officers in the search for Dubois.

Rescuers searched through the night and into Sunday morning. The search was then suspended Sunday due to weather conditions. However, DEEP says that rescuers will resume the search once the weather improves.

The incident remains under investigation.
