BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (WTNH) — Bridgeport Congressman Jim Himes is joining students in southwestern Connecticut to participate in the eight annual “Valentines for Vets” program.

Through the program, valentines made by Fourth District children will be collected and delivered to veterans at Home for the Brave in Bridgeport and at other service organizations.

Dozens of schools participate in the event each year.

“This program benefits everyone who takes part in it – not only the veterans who receive reminders of love and gratitude each year, but also the children who participate, learning about sacrifice, civic responsibility and service to our nation,” Rep. Himes said. “Each year, this is one of my favorite activities, and one of the most worthwhile we can do together as a community.”

Anyone who would like to participate in the program should contact Alexandra Heller at 203-333-6600.
