Traffic stop in Plainfield leads to 2 arrests

Kyle Wood (Plainfield Police)

PLAINFIELD, Conn. (WTNH)– Two Wauregan men were arrested after being pulled over in Plainfield on Tuesday night.

Police say while conducting traffic enforcement in the area of Shepard Hill Road, an officer noticed a black Nissan Altima cross over the yellow line into the opposite lane. A motor vehicle stop was conducted and police say they recognized the driver, 29-year-old Jonique Soler, and his passenger, 24-year-old Kyle Wood, from previous law enforcement interaction.

Through the investigation, officers determined that Soler’s license was suspended and that Wood was in possession of illegal drugs due to his behavior.

A police K9 was then able to alert officers to the presence of narcotics. Wood was also allegedly observed attempting to cover up a glass “crack” pipe with his foot that was concealed, but fell down his pant leg on to the ground.

Wood was found to also be in the possession of the street drug “Molly.” He was arrested and charged with possession of a hallucinogenic substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released on a $25,000 bond.

Soler was issued a misdemeanor summons for failure to maintain proper lane and operating under suspension.

Both will appear in court on January 22nd.
