DOT reaches out to Amtrak regarding cancelled Shore Line East trains

(WTNH) — After receiving a number of emails about cancelled Shore Line East trains, News 8 reached out to the Department of Transportation for answers.

DOT says many of the train delays are because of unreliable older locomotives that are set to be rebuilt in 2018 and 2019.

It also says other spare Shore Line East trains have been taken out of service so that positive train control technology can be installed.

DOT says it has reached out to Amtrak to see when service might return to normal.
