PD: 3 arrested in East Lyme for possession of “bath salts,” graffiti tagging

EAST LYME, Conn. (WTNH) — Three men are facing charges after police say they were in possession of drugs and tagged a building with graffiti.

According to East Lyme police, early Thursday morning around 1:15 a.m., officials located a vehicle attempting to exit an area near Flanders Road with its headlights off.

While conducting a traffic stop, police say they found three individuals inside the vehicle to be in possession of synthetic cathinones, also known as “bath salts.” Police say further investigation discovered the individuals also used spray paint to tag a large area of the wall and dumpster behind behind a plaza as well as a freezer behind a Dunkin’ Donuts with graffiti.

Officials arrested Zachary Lewin, Ryan Higgins, and Tyler Jake for the alleged crimes.

They were held on $5,000 bonds and are scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 25.
