8 Things To Do This Weekend: Pancakes With Penguins & Gingerbread Giveaway

(WTNH) — Looking for activities this weekend? We have 8 ideas for you!

The Connecticut Hop Growers Association has it’s annual meeting and seminar on Saturday at DeFrancesco Farm in Northford at noon.  There’s also a Connecticut style beer social at 4:30pm which includes spirits made with local ingredients – like honey and apples.

Pancakes With Penguins takes place at the Mystic Aquarium on Saturday at 8am.  The experience includes a visit from one of the African Penguins.  Tickets can be reserved online.  Another Pancakes With Penguins event is taking place in February.

Get moving and get answers on Saturday morning at 9am – at the Farmington Valley Walk With a Doc event in Avon’s Sperry Park.  Walkers of all ages and stages are welcome.  The National movement was created by a cardiologist.

Saturday is the last full day of the Gingerbread Lane exhibit at The Children’s Museum in West Hartford.  And on Sunday, beginning at 1pm, the museum will host a gingerbread house giveaway for guests – on a first come, first serve basis.

Disney on Ice Presents Frozen will delight crowds during 3 shows Saturday and 2 on Sunday at the XL Center in Hartford.  See dazzling skating, special effects and Oscar winning music.

Stomp your way into the weekend!  The award winning show is playing at the Bushnell Center for Performing Arts on Saturday and Sunday.  Everyday objects become vehicles for music and rhythm – all performed by an energetic troupe.

Travel back to the 70s and 80s on Saturday night with a performance by Kool & The Gang at Waterbury’s Palace Theater at 8:00pm.  These guys are known to flood dance floors with classic hits like Ladies Night and Celebration.

The Greater New Haven St. Patrick’s Day Parade series kicks off Sunday at 9am in Hamden.  The Save the Parade 5K is the first of 3 road races held throughout the year.  Walkers are welcome, too!

Here’s a look ahead: attend Martin Luther King Day events on Monday the the Yale Museum of Natural History, Hartford’s Wadsworth Atheneum Museum, Imagine Nation in Bristol and Stepping Stones Museum for Children in Norwalk.
