BANTAM, Conn. (WTNH)– Today we’re Cruisin’ Connecticut to Bantam, home of Sportsmen’s of Litchfield. The sporting goods and outdoor supplies store, offers up snow shoe rentals and classes.
Store owner, Jenn Cherosnick explains the experience:
It’s just being one with nature and we have a lot of technology now, and it’s nice to get away from that a little bit. Snow shoeing is something that anyone can do at any age. As long as you can walk and talk… you can snow shoe.
There’s different terrain, so if you want to challenge yourself you can do more hills, you can do deeper snow.
But don’t get fooled… you’re not clamping in with a ski or snowboarding boot…
It’s not a ski boot – you’re going to want to use a snow boot or a winter hiker, which is a hiking boot that is insulated.
Beyond the beautiful views, you’re also going to get quite the workout.
And it’s fun you can do it with family and friends. It’s a great way to get out and enjoy snow and cold in the winter. A traditional snow shoe is going to give you more float on the snow. I always find it fun to blaze my own trail. We’re lucky to live here near White Memorial that has over 2,000 acres of trails; there’s tons of places to take your shoes and you can see something new every day.
You can rent the shoes for just 20 bucks a day. Learn more at Sportsmen’s of Litchfield: 725 Bantam Rd, Bantam, CT 06750
