Police say just after midnight, the 7-11, at 188 Davis Street in the Oakville section of town, was robbed at gunpoint by a lone male who had entered the store while placing a ski mask over his face.
The suspect allegedly then displayed a black handgun, which he “racked” in front of the employee, before ordering the employee behind the counter. The suspect also threatened to shoot the employee and was given an undisclosed amount of money from the register.
The man then fled the area, heading toward Waterbury.
Detectives responded to the store to collect evidence and are now following several leads.
Police describe the suspect as a white male, between 5’6″-5’8″ tall, with a scruffy beard. He was wearing jeans, a dark colored sweatshirt and dark sneakers.
The car the suspect arrived at the store in, appeared to be a dark colored 1990’s, four door sedan, possibly a Nissan. The car also had no hubcaps on the tires on the driver’s side.
Anyone with information on the suspect or vehicle is urged to contact detectives at 860-945-5200.
