Destination Location: News 8 goes to Branford

(WTNH) — News 8 is headed to the beautiful shoreline town of Branford.

Here are some fun facts about the town:

Branford has the the most shoreline among any Connecticut town, running 20 miles long.

In 1975, Connecticut Hospice was founded in Branford, as the first hospice in the United States.

One of the largest events in town is the Brandford Festival, which is held every year during Father’s Day weekend.
It features food, crafts, rides, music and a 5 mile road race.

The Branford Green hosts many gatherings all year long, including Woofstock. The day is filled with music, arts, and food, all to support local animals in need.

Small business is a major attraction in Branford. Shelley’s Garden Center has beautiful indoor and outdoor plants, perfect for any occasion.

Coffee is a hot spot downtown. Sweets on Main has an array of delicious and creative cookies and cakes.

The beaches and outdoor trails are breathtaking. From Short Beach, to the nature trail in Stony Creek, the Branford shoreline offers stunning sights and a peaceful atmosphere.
