Wolcott High School student arrested for alleged possession of handgun on school grounds

WOLCOTT, Conn. (WTNH) — Officials in Wolcott are investigating after a student was found to have a gun on school grounds at Wolcott High School.

According to police, on Jan. 19, a student was in possession of a handgun while at school.

Officials say they received a report on Friday of the butt of a gun sticking out of a student’s pocket.

Police say social media and other sources showed the 15-year-old student with a gun. Officers then allegedly located a 9mm handgun between mattresses at the teen’s home.

The student has been charged with Criminal Possession of a Firearm and Failure to Properly Secure a Firearm. Police may seek additional charges.

Officials say no threats were made.
