Destination Location: News 8 Goes to Southington

SOUTHINGTON, Conn. (WTNH) –News 8 took a trip to Hartford county to explore the town of Southington as a Destination Location during the 9 a.m. ‘Good Morning Connecticut’ newscast. The town shares its’ borders with New Britain, Plainville, Bristol, Wolcott, Cheshire, Meriden, Berlin and Middletown.

Residents of Southington had a lot to say about things to do and see by commenting on our Facebook post.

The array of farms in town topped the list with many people commenting about The Lewis Educational Agricultural Farm to the Bradley Mountain Farm with a herd of goats and soaps on location, Karabin Farms for apple picking, hay rides and Christmas trees.

In-town activities were recommended from hitting the slopes at Mount Southington Ski Area to taking goat yoga, yes, yoga with goats, at Bloom Yoga.

Getting a bite to eat isn’t hard in town with many great spots to choose from such as starting your morning off with an authentic boiled New York bagel from Kettle Bagels and a cup of coffee from Caffe del Mondo to a meal at New Mill Restaurant or Cava during Christmastime for their themed and decorated rooms. The Back Nine Tavern as well as Groggy Frogg were also some local favorites.
