Connecticut ranked as 5th-safest state in U.S.

(WTNH)–Connecticut has been ranked as the fifth-safest state in America, according to the website

The site looked at violent crime rates and prison rates in each state. According to the list, the top five states are Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Virginia and Connecticut.

Connecticut has the fourth-lowest poverty rate, according to the site, at 9.7 percent. It also has just 227 violent crimes per 100,000.

New Haven-Milford was considered to be the most dangerous metro area in the state.
