Taftville man charged with arson, attempted murder in Norwich fire

NORWICH, Conn. (WTNH) — Norwich police arrested a Taftville man for his role in the fire that happened Wednesday.

The Norwich Police Department have arrested 38-year-old, Tyree L. Davis of Taftville, for his role in the fire that happened on Central Avenue Wednesday.

Early Wednesday morning, crews responded to the area of 261 and 263 Central Avenue for reports of a structure fire. Crews knocked down the fire quickly, however the building received damage and one firefighter received minor injuries.

At the time of the fire, officials say the occupants of the building evacuated safely.

During the investigation the Norwich Fire Marshal ruled that the fire was an arson.

Authorities say detectives served an arson and attempted murder warrant on Davis during an appearance Friday morning at the Norwich Superior Court for a separate arrest. They say he is also a registered sex offender.

Davis was charged with many charges including, criminal attempt of murder, arson, reckless endangerment and many more.

He was arraigned at Norwich Superior Court Friday. Davis’ bond was kept at $1,000,000 and he is scheduled to appear back in court on Feb. 13.
