Cruisin’ Connecticut – “The Art of Curling” at the Norfolk Curling Club

NORFOLK, Conn. (WTNH)– Today we’re Cruisin’ Connecticut to Norfolk, home of the Norfolk Curling Club.

It’s one of two curling facilities in Connecticut. And you might be guilty of thinking that the sport looks a little bizarre or eccentric. But let me tell you – it takes skill.

The ice is different from hockey ice, because it is textured. It’s not flat like figure skating or hockey ice.

For every stone you throw in the circular target, you get a point.

Steve Emt is a former UConn basketball player, and from the court to the ice… is now a paralympic curler.

You come out here on the ice and it’s slowed down… you can breathe… mental, relax – it’s got me! It’s absolutely taken over my life.

The club is growing each year with over 100 members, and you can experience it for yourself with their “learn to curl” sessions.
