PD: Man caught trying to steal Hartford officer’s car from police parking lot

HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH)– A man was arrested early Thursday after police caught him allegedly trying to steal a officer’s personal car from the Hartford Police parking lot.

Police say at around 2:40 a.m., an officer saw someone actively stealing his personal vehicle from the Hartford Police gravel lot at 253 High Street.

According to police, the officer was having battery issues so he started his car for a short time. When he returned and saw it moving, he assumed he left it in drive before he saw an unknown man inside.

The suspect, identified as 20-year-old Christian Rodriguez, of Hartford, was immediately detained and arrested. He was charged with trespass, larceny and interfering with a police officer.
