VERNON, Conn. (WTNH) — A man has turned himself in for charges relating to a 2017 home invasion in Vernon.

According to Vernon police, on Monday, Derek Griffiths turned himself in after learning of a warrant for his arrest.

Police say his arrest stems from a home invasion which took place back on March 7, 2017 when he, Ryan Taft of Tolland, and others allegedly forced their entry into a home on Claire Road.

Units say the suspects threatened the occupants with a firearm and assaulted a man at the residence. They then allegedly stole several items before fleeing the scene.

Griffiths is facing multiple charges including Home Invasion and Criminal Attempt at Robbery in the 1st Degree.

He was held on a $350,000 surety bond and appeared in court on Feb. 6.

Taft was previously arrested for his alleged involvement on Sept. 17, 2017.
