Stretch Your Dollar: Free, fun workshops for the kids

(WTNH)– We are continuing our week of ideas to help break the boredom this winter. We’re stretching your dollar with free workshops to keep your kids minds moving.

We all want to keep the minds of our little ones active but it’s not always easy to come up with your own ideas. It’s why so many businesses have incorporated group activites into their business models. It gets you in the door and keeps the kids entertained.

Like at Michael’s where there’s a low cost kids club to get them crafting. Or our parenting coach, Chrissy Khachane, brings her children to Home Depot where there’s a free craft the first Saturday of each month.

“It’s a wonderful way again, mom and dad can get an errand done without breaking the bank and the kids can have something fun to do as well,” said Khachane.

Also, if you’ve never checked out the Lakeshore Learning Store, it’s a great opportunity to test your skills with interactive play. They have crafts and play that can entertain for a couple of hours.

“Especially right now kids are going a little bit stir crazy inside. It’s somewhere they can come, they can play, they can interact with people here, as well and we like to play with them too so we have a really great time. And we have a bunch of stuff open so they can come and have fun and do some learning stuff as well,” said an Lakeshore Learning Store employee.

They have a free craft coming up Saturday to learn about kindness and make Valentines.

Lastly check out Pottery Barn Kids for story time or Jordan’s Furniture. Their ropes course will get their hearts pumping and allow you to get your errands done.
