Tech Tuesday: Discovering Facebook’s Sports Section

(WTNH) — The biggest sports game of the year, the Super Bowl, played out across your television sets and social media this past weekend. Sports are always the most social live event. Fans get competitive and conversational about their favorite team. Globally, more than 62 million people had over 270 million Super Bowl-related interactions — whether that’s commenting on a post, taking a poll, engaging with a video or sharing a photo.

Facebook doesn’t have the rights from the NFL to stream the Super Bowl live, however, they do have a few sporting events that Facebook users can watch live. Facebook Watch is another component of longer-form video content that the platform offers. As far as sports content, Facebook Watch is featuring the Patriots quarterback Tom Brady’s documentary called ‘Tom vs. Time’ as well as video content to re-watch of various sporting events.

Facebook’s hidden Sports section gives some great insights into a variety of games across many sports that are happening in real-time or scheduled for a date in the future. Users are able to select sports teams across the NFL, NHL, NBA and many more leagues to get real-time score updates, calendars of games, play-by-plays as well as statistics.

It’s easy to access! On your Facebook app, click on the menu (the three lines on the bottom right). Scroll until you see ‘Sports.’ Tap on ‘Sports’ to view the teams you like or customize the view by clicking on the settings tool on the top right next to ‘Your Team’ header
