The Westport Fire Department says that at around 8:08 a.m., firefighters responded to Route 15 southbound, between Fairfield and Westport, to a single vehicle on the embankment, close to the North Avenue overpass. The vehicle had rolled over and the driver, who was the sole occupant of the car, was trapped inside.
Westport and Fairfield firefighters worked together to stabilize the vehicle and use hydraulic rescue tools to extricate the driver. Fire officials say the driver was removed from the vehicle at 8:29 a.m. and transported by EMS to a local hospital.
