At The Movies – ‘Fifty Shades Freed’

(WTNH)– This weekend is for lovers. Sorry if you’re sitting next to mom right now. ‘Fifty Shades Freed‘ arrives in time for Valentine’s Day, the final movie based on the best-selling books.

Nash Bridge’s daughter herself, Dakota Johnson, is back as Anastasia Steele, or Sonny Crockett’s daughter, if you prefer. She stole battered and bruised billionaire Christian Grey’s heart back in the first flick.

Fans of the books still haven’t gotten over Jamie Dornan scoring the role of Grey, but movie-goers have been OK with it. The first movie made 600 mil in the U.S. alone. Hit songs accompany every one of them, as do critical drubbings, but it’s saucy escapism at its finest.

The couple is still threatened by Grey’s past, an ex who may want to kill her replacement, Christian’s mother’s friend who made him the mess that he is in the first place, played by Kim Basinger, and Anastasia’s formidable former boss who lost everything simply by flirting with her – #metoo, buddy.

So vendetta’s abound, and it all comes to a head in ‘Freed.’ Plus there’s more whips, gags, and safe words. And romance. There’s also the couple getting married and expecting a child, which is typically when all that stuff I just mentioned comes to an end anyway. So the timing’s perfect.

Free yourself up for ‘freed’ this weekend.
