Windsor Police identify woman killed in head-on crash with garbage truck

WINDSOR, Conn. (WTNH)– Police have identified the woman who killed in a head-on collision with a garbage truck in Windsor on Wednesday afternoon.

Police say at around 1:25 p.m., officers were called to the area of Bloomfield Avenue (Route 305) and Brewster Road for a crash involving a garbage truck and a car.

According to officials, a car driven by 33-year-old Paul Kovalchuck, and a garbage truck driven by 36-year-old Ali Hassan Murphy, had collided head-on.

Kovalchuk sustained serious but non-life threatening injuries and was taken to Hartford Hospital for treatment. His passenger, 41-year-old Tatiana Vedentsova, was also seriously injured. She was taken to Hartford Hospital where she later died from her injuries.

Police say both Kovalchuk and Vedentsova were visiting the United States on business from Moscow, Russia.

Murphy was taken to St. Francis Hospital for minor injuries.

The crash remains under investigation. Police ask anyone with information regarding the accident to contact them at 860-688-5273 Ext. 546.
