Flowers, jewelry, chocolate and the traditional staples of Valentine’s Day. But according to a Retail Me Not Survey, not everyone wants those items.
“What we’re finding is the majority of people really want a nice dinner out and after that, second to that, they’re really looking for an experience. So things like concert tickets, maybe a massage,” said Sara Skirboll.
Sara Skirboll is the shopping and trends expert for Retail Me Not and gave us ideas to save money on what they really want! She suggests looking for discounted gift cards to their favorite restaurant and take them out.
Or see what the deals are at their favorite stores.
“Bed Bath and Beyond, Macy’s, Kohl’s, these are all great places where you’re going to find non-traditional gifts instead of flowers and things like that,” said Skirboll. “Go to Bath and Body Works, they have up to 50% off on some of their hot ticket items. Ulta also has great beauty deals.”
Before you buy anything, check your money-saving apps for a coupon code.
And if you’re not coupled up, the day can still be fun! Check money-saving sites for spa deals to do with the ladies or plan a fun night in.
“Doing face masks at home is a popular idea, watching romantic comedies, those are all great ideas if you’re just planning to spend a night in,” said Skirboll.
From beauty deals to discounted gift cards, there are all kinds of opportunities to save money on something fun or a thoughtful gift.
