Accident involving 8 cars closes road in Willimantic

WILLIMANTIC, Conn. (WTNH)– An accident involving eight cars has closed a road in Willimantic on Wednesday morning.

Police say officers are investigating an eight car accident that happened on Route 289 (Mountain Street).

There were no serious injuries reported in the crash.

Mountain Street is expected to remain closed to traffic from Pleasant Street to Southridge Drive for several hours. Drivers should seek an alternate route.

WIllimantic Police took to Facebook to warn drivers that icy road conditions were causing several accidents in the city.

It’s unclear if the cause of the eight car accident was weather related. The incident remains under investigation.
