Sikorsky’s new combat rescue helicopter enters final stages of assembly

STRATFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — Stratford-based Sikorsky Aircraft is putting the finishing touches on a new combat rescue helicopter.

The HH-60W is in the final stages of assembly.

It is expected to make its first flight two months ahead of schedule.

The chopper will bring new capability enhancements to United States Air Force rescues.

In all, 112 of the new helicopters will replace the Air Force’s aging Pave Hawk fleet.
