Destination Location: News 8 Goes to Southbury

SOUTHBURY, Conn. (WTNH) — Located in New Haven county, Southbury borders Middlebury, Woodbury, Roxbury, Bridgewater, Brookfield, Newtown and Oxford. News 8 took a look at what to do in town as a Destination Location feature during the 9 a.m. newscast.

Residents of this town reached out with so many comments on our Facebook page for “can’t miss” places to eat and things to see around Southbury.

As far as dining options, Mad Greek Pizzeria was recommended the most as the place to go for pizza and gyros while Senior Ponchos specializes in Mexican fare and great drinks. The Laurel Diner was a favorite for breakfast and lunch as well.

One of Southbury’s classic establishments was Walt’s Barbershop at Bennett’s Square which has been in existence since the 1960s. The Shops in Bennett Square also have many other dining options and stores to explore. Shopping at Newbury Place was also high on many resident’s lists.

Outdoor activities are also plentiful with Kettletown State Park in Southbury, many people commented with trials to hike, some even overlooking Lake Zoar and even a beautiful view of Southford Falls.
