About Us Connecticut’s First News Station News 8

WTNH News 8, an ABC affiliate, began airing June 15, 1948 and holds the distinction as Connecticut’s first television station. News 8 is proud to be Connecticut’s “Voice of the People”. The station’s focus is to vigilantly cover stories that impact lives and bring about change. Through this commitment WTNH has received Peabody, Emmy and Edward R. Murrow awards.

The station’s market leading website and mobile apps provide clients with innovative opportunities to help grow their business. WTNH also serves as a caring partner in the community. Add Your School or Business to WTNH Closings and Delays

Here’s how you can have your daycare, business, religious group or organization listed on WTNH’s automated Storm Closing System.

Please send an e-mail to News 8 with the name of the person who is authorized to cancel or close your office. Once News 8 receives your e-mail you will be added to the closure database. You will receive a reply from us with specific entry codes and how to use them.

This process can take a week to ten days to complete.

Send your E-MAIL to ken.margolfo@wtnh.com (Ken Margolfo, Assignment Editor, WTNH-TV)

If you have any other questions contact Ken at 203-784-8888 during regular business hours.

Please Note: On both News 8 and MyTV9, we will ONLY display school closings on screen in the early hours of each day during a severe weather situation. After 9:00 AM churches and community activities will be added to the list displayed on television. All closings, including businesses, will always be listed on our website at wtnh.com. In the event of extreme emergencies all closings may be listed on both television and the website.
